The T-80 was the final attempt to increase the armour protection of the T-70 light tank. The T 80 was based on the T-70 hull but featured a new, up-armoured two-man turret which provided better space utilisation and a higher angle of fire. The T-80 was powered by up-rated GAZ-80 engines, which provided better performance despite the increase in weight. Only 120 T-80 light tanks were produced.
