1: M4 (Late Production) Sherman Tank - Steindorff Viaturas, Panambi, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil (Cavalry Day 14 May 2011)


This was the home of 2º Regimento de Carros de Combate (2nd Tank Regiment) and 11º Esquadrão de Cavalaria Mecanizado (11th Mechanized Cavalry Squadron). The first settled here permanently in January 1973, coming from Valencia, RJ. It was, originally equipped with American M41 tanks, but in January 1998 received the first Leopard 1A1 tanks. The 11th Mechanized Cavalry Squadron, which had been here in 1919 as a member of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment divisional, returned here in July 1995. (Source: Pirassununga Portal).
From the joining of the two regiments was formed the 13º Regimento de Cavalaria Mecanizado (13 RC Mec or 13th Mechanised Cavalry Regiment) which is currently based here.
